David Green

Episode 7: David Green

In this episode, David delves into how covid and his own mental health awareness played as themes within his recently written book. He speaks about his characters, what inspired their development and the world-building. 


In the Spotlight: David Green is a writer of the epic and the urban, the fantastical and the mysterious. With his character-driven dark fantasy series empire of ruin, or urban fantasy noir nick holleran, David takes readers on emotional, action-packed thrill rides. 


Interesting Tidbit: Hailing from the north-west of england, david now lives in County Galway on the west coast of Ireland with his wife and train-obsessed son. When not writing, david can be found wondering why he chooses to live in places where it constantly rains.


Action Step: Similar to the name of his current book, In Solitude’s Shadow, David is asking his readers to come out of their shadow, and make the first move. Reach out to someone who may be down and out, or in covid quarantine or living in isolation. That one step can make a huge difference in anyone’s life (including your own). Lillian Brummet

Episode 6: Featuring Lillian Brummet

In this episode of Tuning In, Lillian shares insights that can help anyone become newly aware of how they can pitch in, or pitch in more to help themselves, and the world environment.  She shares how small actions lead to measurable results, and how working together by pooling resources can up-level your life  ie. a healthier planet  - and - a happier you.  


In the Spotlight: Lillian Brummet inspires hope in individuals, helping people realize the value of their efforts while encouraging them to become more positively proactive in life. She believes once you become aware of simple shifts you can make and the power youhave by making them, anyone (you too) can yield a more healthful environment, both within (joy) and without (this planet). Trash Talk - It's Easy To Be Green is the series of books created by Lillian and her husband Dave. From One Small Garden - Over 300 Delicious, Nutritious Recipes Is a recent one. 


Interesting Tidbits:  Lillian and Dave produced and hosted the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show for 10 years (2005-2015), which aired 3 times per week (1 hour, talk radio). It focused on positive news and inspiring inventions with a big focus on biodynamic sustainable organic gardening and composting.  Dave and Lillian were presented with an award for "outstanding use of various media in ongoing outreach work to reduce waste in our environment" by the Recycling Council of British Columbia.  They have even been acknowledged by the Canadian Wildlife Federation, Pollinator Partnership, North American Butterfly Association, and National Wildlife Federation.  They are also experienced radio show hosts, product reviewers and bloggers.  


Action Step: Lillian is asking you to start having deeper more conscious discussions with other people. If you learned something that made you see things differently that yielded great results, now is the time to help others follow your lead.  Please start discussions with others about tuning in to their heart, living with purpose, being present &/or proactive. Barefoot Sue

Episode 5: Featuring Sue Regan Kenney

In this Episode:  Sue Kenney has walked over 5000 kilometers. She walked 800 of them on a medieval pilgrimage route known as the Camino which is where she had a life shifting experience. It was on this journey when she came to the realization that her purpose in life is to inspire others.  Blended with her profound of her experiences as a pilgrim, her athletic discipline as a competitive world-class Master's rower and her extensive background in the corporate telecommunications industry,  Sue provides leadership  workshops, nature walks and cold plunges to both community and business audiences.   


Interesting Tidbit: Viral on TikTok (@barefootSue), Guest on The Doctors TV Show, award winning master Rower, Wim Hof Method Specialist, Camino Guide and the author of 2 books, Sue has lived a nature-loving lifestyle, barefoot, for over a decade. As expected, she has a deep connection with Mother Nature. Walking barefoot, her asthma cleared up, her feet became strong, her balance improved and so did her memory. Adding in cold plunges, inflammation in her body virtually disappeared and she increased her energy and focus. 


Action Step: This one was easy… Take the first Step! (barefoot, that is). Sue invites you to have a deep connection with Mother Earth.  So get outside! Gramps

Episode 4: Featuring Gramps

In this episode: Gramps Jeffrey is the pen name for Marc Joseph. You may recognize him from his first book The Secrets of Retailing…How to Beat Wal-Mart — written to help entrepreneurs and small businesses compete against the big guys — or the Huffington Post where he wrote over 100 articles about small businesses, education, the homeless and several other nonprofit topics dear to all of us.  Today, however, he writes books for children… with his children’s children!  


In the Spotlight: Gramps Jeffrey’s children’s book, “I Don’t Want to Turn 3”, explores what goes through a toddler’s mind that parents are so desperate to understand.  It is based on the true experiences he has had with his 6 grandchildren.


Action Step: Gramps chose to invite you to use Books to Bond! Reading to a child is key to their development and a great way to bond with you. So whether you are a parent, grandparent, aunt or cousin, Gramps encourages you to read to a youngster!  It can be his book or any book. Adam G. Fleming

Episode 3: Featuring Adam G. Fleming

In this episode: Adam has lived in France, Congo, Ivory Coast and Egypt and has traveled to 21 countries in total. He is a serious hiker and completed the Camino de Santiago in November. His cross-cultural experiences form core aspects of his writing as his characters are always on the move.    


In the Spotlight: My books are awesome. I really don’t mind saying so. I’m a good writer. What I do is entertaining, even the stuff that covers serious topics. cc In this episode Adam reads from 3 books… so tune into his humour and some steampunk!


Interesting Tidbit: Adam published six books between 2012 and 2018.  He then moved the family to Egypt for eight months. Came back during the worst part of the pandemic panic. Published six more books by the end of 2021! And… he is still writing!  


Action Step:  Walk for creativity! Sometimes just walking sparks what needs to be sparked!  Try it out, and if walking helped spark your imagination and got your creative juices flowing, Adam wants to know!   I hiked the Camino from Porto, Portugal, to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. Wren Handman

Episode 2: Featuring Wren Handman

In this episode: From the earliest years of her life, Wren already discovered her passion for writing. In fact, at 6 years old she was writing books and plays for her classmates, and at 11 she wrote an entire novel. Fast forward to today, she is a professional writer, writing for movies, advertisers and TV shows… and her own slew of books. 


In the Spotlight: As a novelist and screenwriter,, Wren writes across a wide range of genres from fantasy and science fiction (Wire Wings) to magic and fairies to YA contemporary paranormal (In Restless Dreams). Tune in as she reads from one of her books.  


Interesting Tidbit: All Wren’s stories are connected by an underlying theme of MAGIC. She loves blending the magical with everyday experiences… probably because she secretly wishes magic was real.
